Prayer

Purpose of prayer

Prayer is the spiritual practice of communicating with God. It is the practice of setting aside time to intentionally be with God, which in turn shapes our character to be more like Him and partner with Him in the world. We pray because we have a relationship with God and are dependent on Him for our existence.

Pray points

As a church family, we would love for each of us to be joined together in prayer. Here are some of the ways you can be praying for the Church.

Weekly Gatherings
Give thanks for our weekly gatherings across all our Communities. Pray for everyone who serves and for the strengthening of each team. Ask God to grow generosity among us—in both serving and giving—as we support the work He is doing.

Impact in Our Neighbourhoods
Pray that each Community would shine brightly in its local area. Ask God to help us live as “salt and light” in our workplaces, homes, and everyday interactions.

Small Groups
Pray for deep discipleship, that people would be formed to become more like Jesus. Pray for new Small Groups to be established and for the leaders needed to lead them. Ask God to grow deep, life-giving relationships in every group.

Upcoming Evangelism Opportunities
Pray for the visit of evangelist J John on 1 February, and for the Alpha Course. Ask God to raise up the teams needed to run a strong Alpha Course, and to give each of us boldness and opportunity to invite others to take part.

Share your story

Do you have a story you'd like to share with the Church, one that you believe will inspire and strengthen others' faith and trust in God?

“Twelve years ago, while visiting Edinburgh, I prayed with a heavy heart for God to revive this city and let me one day see His work here. I never imagined He would bring me back to live in the very neighbourhood where I prayed that prayer. Today, I walk those same streets with gratitude, peace, and hope, trusting that God is at work.- Heidi
